More than 16,900 Saudi Arabian employees in the public sector were approved for foreign scholarships over the past five years, according to a report.
According to government statistics, the US, Britain, Australia, Germany and Canada received about 70 per cent of these scholarship students, said the Arab Newsreport.
The most popular scholarship programmes during the period were medical, administrative and educational specialties, with postgraduate specialties making nearly 45 per cent of them, it said.
The Ministry of Education is also continuing to implement a directive to include students currently studying at their own expense in the US.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Civil Service called on more than 1,900 citizens who applied for administrative jobs covered by public employees’ salary scale to visit any of the branches of the ministry or its offices in various regions and governorates of the kingdom to complete their employment procedures, it added.
